Cattle worth Rs 1.8 lakh seized in JH

SHILLONG: Nine cattle worth Rs 1.8 lakh, which were being smuggled to Bangladesh, were seized in a jungle near Jong U Shen village in Jaintia Hills.
Based on specific inputs that attempts were made to smuggle cattle to Bangladesh via Mukatpur in Amlarem sub-division, a team led by SI R Syrti was sent to intercept the smugglers.
Police said the smugglers escaped as it was dark.
The seized cattle will be handed over to the concerned department for necessary action after completing legal formalities.
