TURA: The National People’s Party (NPP), Youth Wings of East and West Garo Hills have urged the East Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner to look into several issues pertaining to the development of the district.

The youth bodies in a joint memorandum to the deputy commissioner urged to re-start of work on the Simsang Bridge where work  was stopped since the last many years with no signs of it being resumed.

Reminding that the Williamnagar Polytechnic building which despite its completion is yet to function and start an academic session, the youth wings urged the government to make it functional with immediate effect.

Besides, the youth bodies also raised the issue of Williamnagar town not being connected to either NH-44 E or NH-62 although the national highways pass through its vicinity by a distance of a few kilometers. Stating that connecting the town with either or both of the national highways would provide better livelihood and development in many aspects, they urged the official concerned to take necessary steps on the matter.
