SHILLONG: Congress is heading for trouble in Mawkyrwat after the dissolution of the Block Congress Committee as many former supporters of the party are set to join NPP.
The vice president of the Block Congress Committee Diverland Lyngdoh will join NPP along with his supporters on Tuesday.
Earlier, the MPCC also removed senior congress legislator Rowell Lyngdoh representing Mawkyrwat constituency from the post of the president of the Block Congress Committee.
However, Lyngdoh had said that he would not quit the party at this critical juncture. Sources said that pressure from his supporters may mount on Rowell to shift allegiance as the Assembly polls are just a few months away and the Congress may not allot party ticket to the veteran leader.
