City lady to receive ‘Women Transforming India’ award

SHILLONG: A woman from the city has been selected as an awardee at the National Level by the Government of India, which will be conferred in New Delhi on August 29.
Shima Modak from SPARK, a city-based NGO, was selected as an awardee for ‘Women Transforming India’ representing Meghalaya and the North East at the national level. This is the first time that someone from the North East is receiving the award. The award called ‘Women Transforming India Awards 2017’ was launched by NITI Aayog, in partnership with United Nations in India and MyGov.
The awards were opened for nominations on International Women’s Day on March 8, and received an response from across India.
