Kohima: Nagaland state president Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Visasolie Lhounguhas said that BJP is gradually gaining acceptance and the general understanding of the policies, vision and ideology of the party is widening throughout the state.
According to a release BJP party unit today informed that delivering his Presidential address at the Nagaland State BJP combined meeting of state executive, state council and all mandal presidents at the Indira Gandhi Stadium in Mereima, near Kohima yesterday, Lhoungu said “It must be appreciated that people in Nagaland are now joining BJP because of the party’s good governance, anti-corruption, developmental policies and vision.”
The people of Nagaland state awaits BJP to install BJP Government in next election, Lhoungu said, adding in principle the people of Nagaland have realised that BJP is the best alternative to both NPF and Congress. “Our party prospect is improving in every aspect and we must take this opportunity to garner mass support with realistic approaches,” Lhoungu said, adding that forging ties with community, building contact between people and workers is the need of the hour.
Ajay Jamwal, BJP National General Secretary (organisation) in-charge of North East said “BJP will form the next Government in the State after the 2018 State general elections and provide corruption free Government while also taking the welfare schemes of the Central Government to the grassroots, besides putting Nagaland in the path of development and progress.”
He expressed concern that Nagaland lacks good roads and infrastructure development in all sectors, especially education, power and health care delivery systems. He therefore said that the BJP leaders and party workers in the State have to work hard not only to clean the dirt of the streets as part of Swachh Bharat, but also change the mindset of the people to support BJP to form the Government and bring about better development.
Announcing that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched 120 peoples’ welfare schemes, Jamwal however doubted the schemes were reaching the people of the State. In this, he said, State BJP leaders and workers have to approach the district administration to check the successful implementation of the Central schemes aiming to uplift the economic and social condition of the rural poor.
BJP National Secretary (Organisation) in-charge of Nagaland, Ananta Narayan Mishra said the neighbouring states of Nagaland also have BJP Governments and are enjoying uninterrupted development in all spheres. He further urged the party leaders to hoist the party flag in their residences to promote BJP in the State.
Nagaland BJP legislature party leader P Paiwang Konyak said the most important issue now is the issue of secularism and corruptions. “We as leaders must prove that we ourselves are a true Christian in faith and prove to the citizens that the leaders of the BJP are better Christians than the leaders from any other political parties.
He told the party workers that “we must be equipped to fight against the corruptions during the election in supporting the clean election as advocated by the NBCC.” Nagaland BJP Minister Imtilemba Sangtam and BJP legislator Dr TM Lotha also spoke on the occasion, the release said. (UNI)
