NONGSTOIN: A newborn baby was found dead on a road at Tiehsaw village of West Khasi Hills.
Police and villagers are yet to ascertain who had left the baby that had both its legs eaten by dogs.
An eyewitness M. Sun said she saw dogs eating the legs of the newborn in Peng Thlen locality under Tiehsaw village around 1.40pm on Wednesday while she was on her way to pick up her children from school.
“At first I thought it was a monkey but after as we drove close I noticed that it was a human being,” Sun said.
Sun later told her husband who informed the police and village head.
Police officials from West Khasi Hills said the case was registered at Nongstoin police station.
Sources said the village head of Tiehsaw has called an emergent meeting (of the dorbar) to discuss matters concerning the village. The village dorbar also decided to interrogate people in the village to trace the mother of the baby.
