SHILLONG: Senior bureaucrat H.M Shangpliang has applied for Voluntary Retirement Scheme (VRS) giving three months’ time to the government.
An official source said on Wednesday that Shangpliang had applied for VRS since August 10 to relieve himself from all duties from November.
Earlier, media reports had said Shangpliang was keen to contest from Mawsynram, which is currently represented by suspended Congress member and KHADC chief executive member PN Syiem.
Shangpliang, who received a showcause notice from the government for attending a party meeting in Mawsynram, may seek Congress ticket to contest against Syiem.
The KHADC CEM is planning to join PDF finding that the Congress would not allot ticket to him since he rebelled against the chief minister and the party.
