SHILLONG: BJP will depend on private surveys to decide on candidates for the Assembly polls.
State BJP President Shibun Lyngdoh told The Shillong Times on Thursday there was a similar survey carried out privately in June to assess whether BJP should go for pre-poll alliance or contest all the seats alone.
“The outcome of the survey is yet to be released,” Lyngdoh said.
As far as candidates are concerned, the state BJP leader said private survey will be carried out in October assessing the potential of the candidates and in November, the Centre will make further survey before announcing the names of the candidates in December.
Asked about the Independent legislators, Robinus Syngkon and Justine Dkhar, the state BJP leader said that they have agreed to join the BJP and completion of some formalities like the resignation from the post of parliamentary secretaries, is awaited.
Shah’s visit
The core committee of the state BJP will meet the national president of the party, Amit Shah, and BJP leader in charge of Meghalaya Nalin Kohli in Delhi on September 5 to discuss the date for Shah’s visit to the state and other election related issues.
Lyngdoh said the party’s poll preparedness will also be discussed in the meeting.
