GUWAHATI:  Green Corridor was provided in the city at around 10.30 A.M. on Sunday for hitch-free passage of an ambulance carrying a critically ill four-month-old boy from a city nursing home to Guwahati airport for further transshipment in an air ambulance to New Delhi’s Gangaram Hospital.

City police commissioner Hiren Nath accompanied the ambulance from the hospital to the airport where an air ambulance was brought from outside to take the baby to New Delhi while city police SSP (Traffic) Amanjeet Kaur personally supervise the facilitation of Green Corridor along the 30-km stretch of road from the nursing home to Guwahati airport.

The baby boy, Snigdharaag Bhuyan who has been suffering from acute pneumonia and in ventilation in a city Nursing Home, had to be rushed to Gangaram Hospital for advanced treatment.

On request of the hospital authority and the guardians of the ailing infant, Kamrup Metropolitan District administration and the Guwahati City Police facilitated a Green Corridor along the entire about 30 KM stretch from the Hospital to Guwahati Airport.

Assam government will bear the expenditure of further treatment of the child in Gangaram Hospital as the family has been rendered virtually penniless after bearing the cost of the treatment for the child who was admitted to the ICU of the city’s private nursing home about 15 days back.

The Chief Minister’s office here has instructed the resident commissioner of Assam government in New Delhi to facilitate Green Corridor in New Delhi too to take the baby from the airport to Gangaram Hospital without any hitch.

Meanwhile, the family of the baby who hails from Bishwanath Charilai in Assam, has called for help from benevolent people at the time of their crisis and provided a State Bank of India account Number: 32324364486 (IFSC Code: 0012972).

It may be mentioned that in a similar episode few months back the office of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi had facilitated Green Corridor in New Delhi for taking an ailing child from Dibrugarh in Assam to Gangaram Hospital in New Delhi.
