SHILLONG: United Democratic Party (UDP) has denied reports that it would have a pre-poll alliance with BJP in next year’s Assembly elections.
UDP general secretary Jemino Mawthoh said the party has categorically responded that the alliance with HSPDP in Khasi Jaintia Hills and GNC in Garo Hills would form the next government in 2018, in which the party was confident of playing a key role.
“As regards the post-poll scenario, it will naturally be guided by the outcome of the general election,” he said.
Mawthoh said the party was determined to keep the Congress out of the corridors of power and its course of action would be determined keeping that objective in mind.
