MAWKYRWAT: The United Democratic Party (UDP) Mawkyrwat Circle has refused to support the UDP-HSPDP alliance candidate, Renikton L Tongkhar from Mawkyrwat constituency in South West Khasi Hills.
Bateiboklang Marbaniang, general secretary, said the decision was taken at a party general held at Mawkyrwat on Saturday. Marbaniang said there is rift in HSPDP and some of their leaders and supporters do not back Tongkhar. He added that the party would demand that the UDP central body go for “a friendly match between UDP and HSPDP in Mawkyrwat which the leaders and the supporters had always wished for”.
