Sonowal congratulates commonwealth powerlifting gold medal winners

GUWAHATI: Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has  congratulated the powerlifters of the state, Mousumi Bora, Arannanee Gogoi, Minu Gogoi and Minati Dihingia who represented India in the Commonwealth Powerlifting and Benchpress Championship, 2017 and won gold medals on Tuesday.

The Championship is being held at Potchefstroom in South Africa. While Mousumi Bora hails from Morigaon district of Assam , other three medal winners belong to Sivasagar district and they hold many records to their credit in the field of powerlifting at National and International events.

Congratulating the Gold medalists for their excellent feats, Chief Minister Sonowal stated   that their achievements had brought glory to the sporting arena of the nation and would inspire new generation  sportspersons to take up sports as a profession. Sonowal also hoped that the powerlifters would bring more accolades in the field of sports to the nation in the days to come.
