Left, the bank of the Daru river is strewn with garbage thrown by shop owners of Ampati Market.
A garbage collector dumps waste from a bridge into the river. Raising concerns over the matter, two organisations, the A’chik Youth Council and the Garo Students’ Union, have urged the district administration to take necessary steps to save the river. The organisations have also appealed to citizens and bazaar committees to stop dumping of garbage into the river.
