Two powerful IEDs recovered in South Garo Hills

TURA: South Garo Hills police recovered two powerful improvised explosive devices (IEDs) of the Claymore type on Wednesday night. The IEDS are believed to be left behind in a hurry by militants of Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) following last week’s encounter at Keni Badimagre village of Chokpot sub division.

The militants had reportedly directed the villagers to conceal the explosives and the same was kept hidden by some of them in a forest near Keni Badimagre, Dajinggre A kingland.

A search operation conducted by police in the area on Wednesday led to the recovery of the explosives late in the night. and early Thursday morning a bomb disposal unit from the 2nd MLP battalion diffused both the explosive devices early Thursday morning.
