SHILLONG: BJP state president Shibun Lyngdoh on Thursday said Congress leader DD Lapang does not have enough confidence and hence he is threatening MLAs with action if they meet BJP leaders in Shillong.
“Lapang is panicking and his action is like preventing grown-up children from leaving the house if they so desire,” Lyngdoh said.
At least seven MLAs, including those from the Congress are expected to meet BJP president Amit Shah during his visit on Sept 28. “The legislators had sent feelers to meet the BJP leadership and the matter related to their joining the party will be at a later stage,” Lyngdoh said.
Congress legislator AL Hek has made it clear that if invited, he would attend the inauguration of BJP office in the city.
To a question on the two Independents, Justine Dkhar and Robinus Syngkon who are keen to join the party, Lyngdoh said any condition on their part before joining the party is not desirable.
