Monica Bellucci to attend Jio MAMI

Mumbai Film Festival (Eds: Additional inputs) Mumbai, Sep 15 (PTI) Hollywood star Monica Bellucci will be attending the upcoming JIO MAMI 19th Mumbai Film Festival. The 52-year-old diva will be honoured at the festival scheduled to happen from October 12 to 18. The festival will also screen Bellucci’s “On The Milky Road” and “Irreversible” as part of a retrospective. Director and Chairperson of MAMI, Anupama Chopra shared the news on Twitter. “Thrilled to have the amazing #MonicaBellucci @MumbaiFilmFest #JioMAMIWithStar2017” she wrote. Chopra also posted a statement by Bellucci in which the Italian actor said she is excited about her maiden visit to India. “I am very touched and honoured to receive and award by the Mumbai Film Festival as well as presenting some of my films there. It is very exciting to come to India for the first time. Thank you MAMI for the invitation,” the statement read. The festival will showcase 220 films from 49 countries and in 51 languages. Anurag Kashyap’s sports drama “Mukkebaaz” (‘The Brawler’) will open the film festival. The film premiered at Toronto and will play at the London and Busan fests. “Miss Sloane” director, John Madden will head the competition jury, with Indian actor-director Konkona Sen Sharma, Mexican cinematographer Alexis Zabe, Hong Kong- American actress Celina Jade and Argentinian writer-director Santiago Mitre.
