SHILLONG: The Supreme Court on Friday deferred hearing on the MBBS seat row to September 18.
10 students from Meghalaya were denied admission in Assam medical colleges after the neighbouring state changed its rules abruptly.
Earlier, the Government had claimed that the case was listed on September 11, but was differed to Friday for hearing.
However, a state law officer said that the case was not listed on Friday and added that it will come up for hearing on Monday.
Meanwhile, Health Department officials met the affected students and their parents on Friday.
The students told reporters that they were asked to be patient as the case is still pending in the Apex Court.
The issue has led to mudslinging between the two governments as Meghalaya alleged that Assam changed its rules without notifying. The seats were abolished to make way for OBC candidates.
