SHILLONG: In line with the infamous Wagah Indo- Pak retreat ceremony, India and Bangladesh is all set to start the Indo-Bangla retreat ceremony at Dawki  before the BSF celebrates its annual raising day this year. The raising day of the BSF is celebrated on December 1  ever year.
BSF Meghalaya frontier, IG PK Dubey  said that saluting platform have been constructed and the entire plan was delayed from the Bangladesh side due to their problems.
In addition, BSF would also setup  necessary utilities such as toilets, sheds and canteen for the visitors who would throng the area to witness the retreat ceremony.
It may be mentioned that Dawki is already one of the favourite tourists destinations in Meghalaya as the place has a check point and it is also used by many tourists to cross over to India as well as Bangladesh.
“We will exhibit, Meghalaya, BSF and the entire country in the infrastructure which would come up at the place,” he said, adding that   the tourism department of Meghalaya can also chip in to setup necessary infrastructure  for boosting tourism sector in the area.
The border outpost is proposed to have photography exhibitions, display of arms and screening of documentaries about places for tourists to get information and know the security issues.
Apart from Dawki, similar infrastructures are also coming up at  Kilapara  in Dalu in West Garo Hills.
Kilapara in West Garo Hills has a war memorial where tourists pay homage to martyrs of the 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War.
The war memorial carries an untold saga of suffering and bravery as the area was a strategic war zone in 1971.
