TURA: The All Garo Hills SSA School Teachers’ Association (AGHSSASTA) has alleged problems being faced by teachers as well as confusion over the notification given for NIOS to register themselves for undergoing the D.El.Ed course.

“Graduate and Post-Graduate teachers are upset about the need to do improvement examination for Class XII standard. The Government had already declared that it was not required for Graduate Teachers but the notification for NIOS keeps on changing week after week. This is really confusing the teachers” it said.

The association also recounted the difficulties faced by head teachers in registering their concerned schools for the D.El.ED course and confirming admission of assistant teachers as well as the problem of internet instability in Garo Hills especially in the outskirts.

Stating that many minor mistakes are being made by teachers at the time of registering due to the rush to complete the process in such a short time, the association urged the government to look into the matter and allow an opportunity to make necessary corrections.

The association also said that the fate of teachers appointed in the beginning of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) who have been serving for many years but not cleared Class XII examinations was not clear.

“Will these teachers be accepted for NIOS? If not, what are they supposed to do now?” the association asked.

Reminding that some of the teachers belong to the Hindu community whose biggest festival (Durga Puja) falls within this month, the association urged the government to release their eight month pending arrears at the earliest.
