SHILLONG: More criticism has surfaced on Monday over chief minister Mukul Sangma and cabinet minister and local legislator Deborah Marak jointly inaugurating the GSU office, East Zone in Williamnagar, East Garo hills on Saturday.
In his response, the state BJP president Shibun Lyngdoh said on Monday, “It appears that the chief minister and the cabinet minister are planning to join the pressure group and hence they inaugurated the GSU office”.
According to Lyngdoh, the Congress will not come back, and hence Mukul Sangma and Deborah Marak wanted to join the pressure group in future as BJP will form the next government.
Lyngdoh questioned as to how could the Congress political leaders carry out the inauguration of the office of a pressure group when the election is round the corner. Echoing similar views, NPP leader James Sangma said that Mukul Sangma being the chief minister of the state and holding such a high constitutional post is showing his ignorance by inaugurating such an office.
“He is setting a very bad precedence and bringing an unhealthy trend of mixing politics with civil societies,” he said.
