SHILLONG: The Meghalaya Upper Primary School Teachers Association (MUPSTA), East Jaintia Hills district unit, has decided to prepare an agitation programme for upgrade of all upper primary schools in the district.
This was announced in the association’s general meeting at Government L.P. School, Khliehriat on Monday.
Speaking in the meeting, organising cum publicity secretary E.G. War said this year a proper agitation programme should be prepared as their demand for upgrading all upper primary schools has to be approved.
He further said that the association would not demand for the enhancement of grant in aid but there was a need to have a deficit pattern. Referring to the hardships of leadership, K. Shadap, the president of the association said that being a leader of a state level association was not an easy job.
“Leaders have to give 100 per cent; they have to visit all the government departments regarding what the association demands,” he said. The meeting was presided over by the unit president E. Mannar.
Earlier, general secretary R. R. Ronghang gave a short report on the functions of the association.
The association elected its new office-bearers for the year 2017-2020 with Evident Manner as president (Narwan UPS), Gustafson Khonglah as vice president (Christian UPS Lumshnong), Healthist Dkhar (Musniang UPS) as general secretary, PyrkhatbhaSiangshai (Evermore UPS) as assistant secretary, Helmelinda Pdang (Wapung Circle UPS) as finance secretary cum treasurer and Morep Siangshai (Musniang UPS) as organising secretary.
The association also elected 11 executive members
