SHILLONG: The visit of BJP national president Amit Shah to the city has been postponed to October 7 since the earlier date of September 28 is clashing with Durga Puja celebrations.
State BJP president Shibun Lyngdoh said on Monday that considering the religious sentiments, the BJP president will visit Shillong on October 7.
Lyngdoh said that the BJP leadership in Delhi had a meeting on Sunday night after receiving requests from various quarters including the puja committees to defer the meeting as his visit will coincide with the puja celebrations.
Various religious leaders were to meet Shah during his visit.
“There should not be any inconveniences and hence we decided to arrange the visit in October”, Lyngdoh said.
Earlier, the date of Shah’s visit was fixed for August 12, but it was postponed to September 28 since he was busy during the Rajya Sabha polls.
