Nominations sought for Ashoka Chakra series of Gallantry Awards

SHILLONG: The Deputy Commissioner of  East Khasi Hills District here has informed the general public that the Ashoka Chakra series of Gallantry Awards namely, Ashoka Chakra (awarded for most conspicuous bravery or some act of daring or pre-eminent valour of self-sacrifice), Kirti Chakra (awarded for conspicuous gallantry) and Shaurya Chakra (awarded for gallantry), will be announced by the Government of India on the occasion of Republic Day, 2018.

Persons of either sex in all walks of life are eligible for these awards. Beside Defence personnel, member of Police forces are also eligible for these awards. The Award can also be conferred posthumously.

Intending individuals from East Khasi Hills District who desire their names to be recommended to the Government for the award are requested to send their nominations to the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills District, Shillong on or before 25th September, 2017.
