SHILLONG: Anguished over the absence of proper roads, health centre and other facilities at Lapangap area in West Jaintia Hills, two youths from the area, Auguster Timung and Saikil Sumer narrated the negligence of the state government in the rural areas.
Talking to media persons in Shillong, these two aggrieved youths informed on Wednesday that they met Sniawbhalang Dhar when he was the PWD (Roads) minister to request him to build the road to the area.
“He assured that the road will be completed in October. Since then four Octobers (four years) have passed but nothing has been done,” they added.
Sumer said that the existing Kacchha road is motorable only in winters. Hence, they have demanded the construction of a 9 km road from Khanduli to Lapangap.
When asked, he said that the total number of households in the area is 400.
