TURA: Crimes against women and children continue unabated in the Garo Hills with another gruesome incident being reported of a 12 year old girl abducted and sexually assaulted in Kharkutta region of North Garo Hills on Friday morning.
The crime occurred when the young girl was heading to school from the village of Konchikol Apal in Rajasimla area of Kharkutta.
As the girl was passing through an isolated area, a 31-year-old man from the locality identified as Sanjib Arengh grabbed her and took her to a secluded spot where he committed the crime.
He tried to pacify the victim by offering fifty rupees and threatened her not to tell her family.
