Dadenggre SDO clarifies on PDS Rice scam probe

TURA: Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) of Dadenggre, Ramkumar S who was entrusted to probe the recent scam involving the distribution of PDS Rice to flood victims has reiterated that all necessary procedures were followed during the inquiry.

“A full inquiry was carried out by the undersigned till September 12. The inquiry process took statements from various quarters including the village relief distribution committee, the wholesaler and other members of the general public who were willing to depose with evidence,” the SDO said.

According to the SDO, the notice for deposition was put up in all notice boards of the office as well as a copy sent to Officer in Charge of Phulbhari for display on the notice board. He said that the same was also posted on his official website.

“These were the available communication means from my office which were fully utilized. The inquiry was concluded and the report submitted on the September 15 to the Deputy Commissioner of West Garo Hills District for further perusal,” the official added.

According to the official the inquiry was conducted on the field and statements taken from relief committees as well as samples of rice, dal and oil take. As per the official there were no discrepancies or delay as claimed in the media, while conducting the probe.
