SHILLONG: The State Youth Wing of the United Democratic Party (SYW-UDP) has disowned the statement released by Joannes Lamare, the joint secretary of the youth wing, against the UDP-HSPDP alliance asserting that the statement was issued without the knowledge and sanction of the youth wing leadership.

In a press statement, working president, Donkupar Sumer stated that that the views expressed the statement in question were purely personal and had no bearing whatsoever on the SYW-UDP.

“The State Youth Wing totally and fully endorses and supports the UDP party leadership and will soon meet to augment their capacities to work for the success of the UDP- HSPDP alliance,” he stated.

It may be recalled that Lamare petitioned the party high command, claiming that the alliance between the UDP and HSPDP has caused a lot of distress among “many others”.

He added that there had been a mass exodus of members from the UDP as they were dissatisfied with the way the party was being managed.
