TURA: Sustained police operations have forced two cadres of the Garo National Liberation Army to surrender with arms at Williamnagar on Sunday morning.
East Garo Hills police said Chanchan Ch Momin (22) alias Gonggaram alias Teenfoot belonged to Rapdikgre while Challang C Marak (21) alias Rongpak was from Adugre.
A pistol and a revolver were handed over to the police.
The duo said they were unable to bear the hardships posed by continued police operations and were forced to surrender.
They also told police that the outfit’s cadres were facing financial crunch as the money collected was being managed by GNLA chief Sohan D Shira alone.
The cadres also said many others were looking at leaving the outfit as no one wanted to be with Shira.
Challang was the gunman of Shira besides being a part of his security ring.
