Missing woman from Jowai rescued from Siliguri

SHILONG: Shillong police has have rescued a 24-year-old woman   from Jowai who went missing from Guwahati.

The woman was rescued from Siliguri after she went missing from Guwahati in February this year.

Shillong city SP, Vivek Syiem said that the woman had been identified as Lamidaka Rymbai. She went missing on 2nd February under mysterious circumstances. An FIR was registered by the mother of the woman at Dispur Police Station in Guwahati and at Lumdiengjri police station in Shillong.

Police said one Nur Muhammad of Barpeta in Assam was arrested in connection with the incident. After the arrest, the Missing Desk East Khasi Hills found that she was trafficked to Siliguri. Later, Missing Desk East Khasi Hills and Assam police rescued the girl from Khalpara in Siliguri where she was kept under confinement.

Her captors, however, managed to give the police a slip when the raid was conducted in the area
