100 hamlets yet to be electrified

SHILLONG: As many as 100 villages in Meghalaya are yet to be electrified even as Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Saubhagya free electricity scheme for 24×7 power in all rural households, on Monday.
According to data in the Union power ministry’s Grameen Vidyutikaran dashboard, there were altogether 912 un-electrified villages in the state out of which 801 villages have been electrified while 11 villages are uninhabited.
It also reveals that there were 4, 63,022 households iof which 323755 have been electrified while 1, 39,267 households remain. The total percentage of households’ electrification in the state stands at 69.92 per cent.
