Dorbar Shnong encourages safe campaigning

SHILLONG: The Synjuk ki Dorbar Shnong, West Shillong, an umbrella body of ten Dorbar (village councils), has urged political parties vying for the 2018 Assembly elections from the constituency of West Shillong to refrain from any aggressive campaign.
In a statement issued here, the Synjuk asserted that political parties should foster respect to view candidates in the political arena as participants and not as enemies.
The Synjuk reacted to the allegations of incidents in the constituency in which a petrol bomb was hurled at the residence of Paul Lyngdoh, MLA from the constituency, and the damage done to the CCTV camera at Congress office of the constituency.
Further, the Synjuk stated that the voters are wise enough to not elect political parties that create fear psychosis or use muscle power.
The Synjuk has issued a warning against anti-social elements and requested the residents to be alert to ensure peace and harmony in the constituency.
