KSU members released on bail after four months

NONGPOH: After spending four months in the District Jail located at Mawsyntai in Ri Bhoi District, ten members of the Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) including four from Shillong and six from Ri Bhoi District were on Tuesday evening granted bail by the District & Sessions Court of Ri Bhoi District.

The ten members of the KSU who released on Tuesday include Ferdynald Kharkamni, president of North Khasi Hills District, Sonstar Nongkhlaw, assistant secretary central body, Biangbor Paliar, organizing secretary central body, Jayand Sylliang, Sabathani Lyngdoh, Johny Nongrum, Augustine Nongbri, Oris Thabah, Bonifast Lyngkhoi and Raymond Jana.

It may be mentioned that the KSU activists were earlier arrested for their alleged involvement in the attack on the railway project at Ringbone, Byrnihat in Ri-Bhoi District on May 27 this year and various arson-related cases following the Ronghona incident.

The KSU activists were received by family members and KSU leaders outside the District Jail on Tuesday evening.

The KSU central body led by its General Secretary Donald Thabah accompanied by former leaders like Daniel Khyriem, Auguster Jyrwa and others facilitates the leaders and members after they were released from the District Jail of Ri Bhoi located at Mawsyntai.
