Swachh Bharat Diwas at Nongpoh
SHILLONG: The Meghalaya State Water and Sanitation Mission – SBM (G) in collaboration with the District Water and Sanitation Mission, Ri Bhoi district will organise the state level programme on ‘Swachh Bharat Diwas’ on October 2. The programme will start with a mass rally at 10 am from MUDA Complex, Nongpoh to Pahamsyiem Mini Stadium followed by a function and exhibition in which Minister in charge PHE, C Lyngdoh, will be the chief guest. Various entertainment and DJ will be other highlights of the day.
Umsohlait Police Station to be inaugurated
SHILLONG: The Superintendent of Police Ri Bhoi District, Nongpoh has informed that the Umsohlait Police Station will be inaugurated on October 6 by HDR Lyngdoh, Minister for Home (Police), in the presence of other dignitaries.
Vidyalaya Management Committee held
SHILLONG: The Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Niangbari, Ri Bhoi district, under the chairmanship of district Deputy Commissioner CP Gotmare, held its Vidyalaya Management Committee (VMC) in the school premises on September 27 to discuss on various issues

Ganja recovered
SHILLONG: Customs Headquarters Preventive Unit, Shillong intercepted a truck bearing Nagaland registration number at Puriang, East Khasi Hills, on Wednesday and recovered 2068.340 Kgs of Ganja worth Rs 3,17,25,100.
The driver has been arrested while the ganja and the truck were seized. A case has been registered under the provisions of NDPS Act, 1985. Preliminary investigation suggests that the consignment was coming from Agartala and was destined for Siliguri via Guwahati.
NCP meet
SHILLONG: The State NCP, in a small gathering at its office enrolled several members and also appointed Dap Kupar Nongrum as the general secretary of the Nationalist Youth Congress (NYC).
Rice released in WKH
SHILLONG: The Deputy Commissioner (Supply) of West Khasi Hills district has informed that the rice under NFSA scheme, 2013 for the month of September,2017, quota, for AAY, Priority Household (PHH) and Non-NFSA within Nongstoin Sadar Sub-Division Wholesaler Centre has been released including Buffer Stock Non-NFSA Riangdo Wholesale Centre (D Rongrin) for the month of May, 2017 and June, 2017 Nongstoin Wholesale Centre (N Syiem).
