NONGSTOIN: The general meeting of the Mawshynrut Block Congress Committee on September 29 last saw a huge gathering in Riangdo where more than 600 members from different Primary unit attended the general meeting.
The meeting was attended by its poll aspirants Justine G Momin a local youth from Nirang a remote hamlet of Mawshynrut Constituency, Working President of MPCC James Lyngdoh, President of West Khasi Hills District Congress Committee JTS Thongni, Srally Rashir President MBCC, K. Marbaniang General Secretary of Congress Shillong City, Raymond Lyngkhoi President Youth Congress of Mawshynrut amongst others.
James Lyngdoh while addressing at the general meeting said that the INC had a bright chance to retain the government in the upcoming election in 2018. He also assured that there would be no government without Congress in the state of Meghalaya as people have faith in the party.
He said that Mawshynrut for the last five years had given a chance to other regional party to rule but there had been no development but this time the congress would retain the seat.
He also thanks the Mawshynrut Block Congress Committee for uniting the party members especially the candidate of the Congress in the last election Methodius Dkhar who also came to attend the meeting and extended his support for the party candidate Justine G Momin besides agreeing to work hard for the future of the party.
He also formally announced that the ticket will be given to the only aspirant of the Congress Justine G Momin is supported by 42 primary units in the Block congress. He also urged the party members to work hard in order to bring about a change in the constituency.
Justine G Momin said that the Congress was the only party in the state which could bring the people closer and bring about changes for better.
He confessed that he joined the party not for his own benefits but for the benefit of the people of the constituency because only the Congress had the capacity to form the government in the state as regional party had no leaders as everyone wanted to be a leader.
He also said that there was no other ruling party other than the Congress who could create new of districts, sub-divisions, C&RD Blocks and bring about development in all constituencies. He also took pride that he was from the congress party which created a new sub-division for people of Mawshynrut.
Therefore, Momin urged the people of Mawshynrut to come together and extend their support once again to the Congress party to facilitate changes for the better in the constituency.
