MAWKYRWAT: The South West Khasi Hills District Youth Congress Committee (DYCC) on Sunday suspended its general secretary, Kynpham Kharlyngdoh, for three years for his alleged anti-party activities.
DYCC president Comingstar Syiemlieh said the decision was taken after the committee received complaints from the president of the Mawkyrwat Assembly Youth Congress Committee (MAYCC) on Kharlyngdoh’s indiscipline and his involvement in anti-party activities.
Kharlyngdoh, a former Khasi Students Union leader and lawyer, was a Congress ticket aspirant from Mawkyrwat.
He allegedly held ‘political meetings” to put pressure on the state leadership for ticket.
“The organisation of the meeting on September 30 at Dorbar Hall in Mawkyrwat (by Kharlyngdoh) without the knowledge of Mawkyrwat Assembly Youth Congress Committee or DYCC shows that he is involved in anti-party activities. It was to prevent him from misleading party members that he was still the active member of the party,” Syiemlieh said.
The District Youth Congress Committee president said Kharlyngdoh’s election as general secretary was “his ploy to mislead the youth” and form a group to put pressure on MPCC to allot him ticket.
Syiemlieh also requested members of the Congress party not to be misled by any person or a group of persons claiming to be active members of the party as “they have hidden agenda”.
