No alternative to Cong especially in Garo hills: Deborah Marak

SHILLONG:  Senior Congress leader and a cabinet Minister, Deborah Marak sounds optimistic that the Congress will perform exceedingly well in the upcoming 2018 elections particularly in Garo Hills.

Speaking to media persons today, Marak said that there was no alternative to Congress and people were looking towards Congress in Garo Hills.

On being asked why people were looking at Congress, she said that the Congress had done a lot for the development of Garo Hills in the last   8-9 years.

Maintaining that BJP was not a threat for Congress in the coming Assembly elections, she said that BJP leaders were only coming from New Delhi and making tall claims before the media.

She also refused to accept that BJP was gaining ground in Meghalaya saying the position of the party would be revealed only after the 2018 elections were over.

The senior leader further added that the party had already started its preparations for the ensuing elections as Chief Minister   Mukul Sangma was working hard, besides MLAs and party workers had also been directed to work hard for ensuing a win for the Congress in the upcoming elections. “We are fully ready to fight the elections,” she said.
