Govt prepares fertile ground for agri growth

SHILLONG: The Agriculture Department has come up with schemes to give a fillip to organic farming and will extend all help to farmers, said a senior official of the department on Tuesday.
Speaking at the one-day vegetable and fruit show organised by the Horticulture Department at U Soso Tham Auditorium, Commissioner and Secretary of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department P Sampath Kumar said, “Agricultural sector should not be ignored. The department has come up with schemes to develop agriculture… it is willing to extend help to people who take up organic farming.”
Kumar urged the gathering to register themselves with different branches of the department to avail the benefits of organic farming.
