SHILLONG: After Rowell Lyngdoh’s decision to join NPP, another senior leader, Prestone Tynsong, will follow suit.
In a precursor to affiliate with NPP, supporters of Tynsong will join the party at a function to be held in Pynursla on Saturday.
The purpose is to begin the ground work for the party in the run-up to the polls since for the last many years the constituency has been a Congress bastion.
Sources said after due preparations, Tynsong will join NPP at an appropriate time.
Earlier, Lyngdoh had said he was in touch with Tynsong and that the duo will shift allegiance to NPP in due course of time.
Sources added that others in line to join NPP include Congress legislators Sniawbhalang Dhar and his brother Ngaitlang Dhar.
It was the sudden dissolution of the Block Congress Committees in Mawkyrwat represented by Lyngdoh, Pynursla (Tynsong), Nartiang (Dhar) and Umroi (Ngaitlang) that triggered the move by these legislators to shift allegiance.
Prior to this, Tynsong and Sniawbhalang were dropped from the ministry which also added to their resentment.
