SHILLONG: Chief Minister Mukul Sangma, while turning down allegations about the Congress-led state government being shaky, said that his government knew how to “steer well” in a turbulent political climate.
“We know how to steer well in a real turbulent political climate,” Sangma said while responding to queries of mediapersons here on Thursday.
Asked about allegations that the government was shaky and hence not convening the Assembly session, Sangma said people should not go by assumptions and presumptions and there have been similar assumptions and presumptions in the past.
Replying to a query on when the session would be convened, Sangma said, “When sessions are convened, enough notice is given to all concerned,” adding that a session was convened as recent as June 12.
Asked about the entry of the People’s Democratic Front (PDF) in state politics, Sangma said that their entry would only benefit Congress.
He however said the entry of any political party reflects the vibrant democracy of the nation.
“Democracy of the country enables everybody to venture out to serve people in the capacity of a politician,” the chief minister said.
He went on to add that the government often reminds misguided youths that democracy has space for all who consider themselves as game changers.
