SHILLONG: MLA of South Shillong constituency, Sanbor Shullai on Saturday laid a foundation stone for construction of a 2.07 kilometre road connecting Dong Skul and Dong Seij at Lower Lumparing .
The road project was sanctioned under the PWD department for an amount of Rs. 1.70 crore for construction which includes metalling and black topping of the road.
Addressing the gathering, the MLA said, “This project was realised only because of the people of these two localities and especially the land owners who had donated their land without any hassle.”
Stating that people of the state should follow the example laid by the residents of Lumparing, he said, “When it comes to attaining sanction for a project, things normally tends to get delayed and files are being passed from one department to another because of land acquisition issues”.
Shullai informed that the total cost of the project will come to Rs. 2.12 crore due to additional construction of drains etc.
