Cleanliness top priority of Nongpoh town heads

NONGPOH: The newly elected chairman and the general secretary of Nongpoh Town Committee have said cleanliness would be their top priority.
Chairman EK Lapang, who is the headman of Saiden village, and general secretary Rayonald Kharkam were elected on Saturday.
The duo has urged the people in the town to cooperate with the committee to bring about a change. They told media persons that they would also focus on solid waste management at Umshangling, footbridge in Nongpoh and proper drainage system to prevent flash flood in Nongpoh. The election was necessitated after the tenure of CB Syiem and T. Nongkhlaw ended as chairman and general secretary, respectively. Traditional heads of Hima Nongpoh Sirdarship, Raid Nongpoh, Raid Nongkhrah and 11 other villages under the town took part in the election.
