Union MoS for Defence inaugurates MUDRA promotion in Shillong

GUWAHATI: Union Minister of State for Defence, Dr Subhash Ramrao Bhamre on Monday inaugurated  Mudra Promotion Campaign at  the State Central Library in Shillong.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Subhash Ramrao Bhamre  asked the people of the state to take advantage of the Union Government schemes.

According to Dr Subhash , Union Government programmes like Jan Dhan Yojana and   Stand up India will bring massive transformation in the lives of the youths. Stating that   loans worth crores of rupees have been sanctioned under Mudra scheme for the young entrepreneurs of the country, he added that a large chunk of the beneficiaries of the Government schemes are Scheduled tribe, scheduled castes and woman.

Earlier, Meghalaya’s Minister of Taxation, Zenith Sangma  said that the State aspired to get more loans extended for the youths of the state even as he added that  there were less number of bank branches and POS  machines in rural areas of the state.

The Government of India seeks to promote Mudra loans, financial inclusion schemes and digital payment methods to encourage consumers and merchants to increasingly shift to these payment modes  and to facilitate this, the ‘Mudra Promotion Campaign’ is being organized in 50 locations across the country from 27th September, 2017 to 17th October.

The Mudra Promotion Campaign was a day-long event with participation and setting of stalls from all the Banks, Public Sector Insurance Companies
