WGH DC holds review meeting

TURA: An urgent review meeting with all heads of Departments of West Garo Hills District was convened by Deputy Commissioner, Pravin Bakshi at his office chamber on Tuesday evening.
The meeting was held to discuss important agendas including relief and disaster management reports and FIRs for 2017, 2016, 2015, 2014 and earlier years, disaster management – preparedness and Emergency Operation Centre (EOC), road safety awareness programs and steps taken, pending bills and estimates for government programs, DRDA civil works for line departments and fund requirement amongst others.
Speaking on matters relating to road safety during the meeting Bakshi said that all related departments need to follow the guidelines strictly and implement the same for the benefit of the people at large and organize awareness programs for school children, college students and drivers of all commercial vehicles by the concerned departments
The Deputy Commissioner also informed all the departments to prepare their reports and proposal for District Planning and Development Council meeting to be held next month.

An official from Public Works Department, Tura informed that there is a need to identify zebra crossing in and around the town especially at busy junctions for the convenience of the pedestrians while crossing the road.
