General meeting
The Meghalaya Upper Primary School Teachers Association, East Jaintia Hills district unit will hold its general meeting on October 14 at the Government LP School, Khliehriat West at 10 am. The meeting will discuss various matters on how to strengthen the unit. It requests all teachers falling under the unit to attend the meeting.
Shutdown notice
The Executive Engineer, PHE, Electrical Division, Mawphlang has informed that the Greater Shillong Water Supply Works at Mawphlang will be put under shutdown on October 12 from 8 am to 4 pm on account of shifting of 33Kv Power line at Stage I Pumping Station.
Awareness programmes
Basin Development Unit (BDU), East Garo Hills organised a one-day Entrepreneurship awareness programme at the District Auditorium, Williamnagar on October 10. A large number of entrepreneurs and students from various schools and colleges participated.
An awareness programme on the provisions of the ‘Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013’ was organised by NEEPCO with faculty assistance from Integrated Training & Policy Research, New Delhi on Tuesday at NEEPCO, Corporate Office.It was organised to sensitise NEEPCO employees about the various provisions of the Act.
Marathon
The Meghalaya Frontier, Border Security Force will organise Half Marathon(21 kms) to pay homage to BSF Martyrs of Meghalaya and felicitate their families at Mawpat, Shillong on October 22.The run will start from BSF campus Mawpat via Lumshyiap-Golf link – Mawlai – Garikhana – Rilbong- Civil Hospital – Governor House – Nongmynsong – Iserwat and conclude at Mawpat. The minimum age for participation in the marathon is 18 years.
Prohibition
The Sub Divisional Magistrate, Sohra Civil Sub Division has promulgated an order under Section 144 CrPC prohibiting illegal/rampant killing of fishes/other aquatic life forms by using explosives and poisons in all rivers/streams within the Sub-Division. The order has been passed in view of the information received that there is ongoing practice of rampant killing of fishes along the Umsohryngkew River. The order will come into force with immediate effect up to a period of 6 months or until further orders.
Gratitude
The Laitumkhrah Dorbar Shnong Pyllun in its executive meeting held recently, expressed its gratitude to the district administration under the aegis of the Deputy Commissioner East Khasi Hills district, the Traffic department under the supervision of the SP Traffic EKH district, N K Syiem for the efforts to roll back the traffic route in Laitumkhrah as per suggestions and proposal of the Dorbar, the residents of Boyce Road, Main Road, Upland Road and others. The Dorbar also thanked the Traffic In charge and all personnel of Traffic Branch, Laitumkhrah. It looks forward to similar co-operation from the police department in the future.
