SHILLONG: A student of English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU) in Shillong, who went ‘missing’ on Monday, has returned to the university on Thursday.
The third semester student, David O Baby, went to Darjeeling on Saturday and he could not be contacted since Monday night.
The frantic parents in Kerala contacted the police here to make efforts to trace him.
No FIR was filed either by EFLU or by the parents.
An EFLU functionary said on Thursday that David, who is studying MA in Mass Communications and interested in photo journalism, had gone to Darjeeling without informing the authorities.“May be he wanted to experiment with his new camera outdoor,” an official said.
According to EFLU, the student was robbed somewhere after crossing Kokrajhar in Assam while he was sleeping in the train. His expensive camera, cash, mobile phone and shoes were stolen. He could return to Shillong after police gave him Rs 500.
It is yet to be known whether he was drugged by the miscreants who took away his belongings.
The disciplinary committee of EFLU will meet on Friday to discuss the matter.
