NONGSTOIN: A 49-year-old man was killed by his own son at his residence at Syllei Iawkhein, Nongstoin in West Khasi Hills on Friday night, police said.
Sources said that an inebriated Mansing Kharbani (49) had an altercation his son Alexander Nongsiej (22) following which the father hit his son with a stick. But when tried to hit him again, his son attacked him with a machete several times on the head and foot following which Mansing died.
 Neighbours rushed to the spot after knowing about the incident and saw Mansing lying in a pool of blood on the ground. They immediately informed the police about the incident. 
The police arrested Alexander and interrogation is on. The body of Mansing was brought to Civil Hospital for postmortem on Saturday morning.
