18 Degree Festival begins in Shillong

SHILLONG: With an objective of harnessing the talent of the youths of Meghalaya, the 18 Degree Festival began here in Shillong on a positive note. 18 Degrees is a multifaceted festival of art, culture, music etc., which is being organised in Shillong under the aegis of State Arts and Culture Department from October 16 to 21.

As 18 Degrees Festival has been organised since the year 2014, the event is already a hit among the youth of the state as the festival is a blend of entertainment and showcasing rich cultural heritage of Meghalaya.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister for Arts and Culture, Ronnie V Lyngdoh said that the event is the brainchild of Meghalaya Chief Minister, Mukul Sangma and   added that the   festival enabled youths to exhibit their talent before the world.

A famous Indian author, Mukul Deva said that the youths always brought fresh ideas and event such as these brought all fine arts together.

The event would have host of programmes such as X sports free-style show, state- level cultural competitions, DJ workshop, beat box and photography workshops besides paint ball, target shooting and art camps.
