SHILLONG: The Congress has made demonetisation, GST and rising fuel prices as its weapons to attack the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre before the 2018 elections.
James Lyngdoh, working president of Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee, on Saturday criticised NDA on the hike in petrol and diesel prices, an issue which BJP as an opposition party during the UPA government used to lambast the Congress.
He was speaking at a meeting at Jirang where Vijay Laxmi Sadho, the All India Congress Committee (AICC) secretary in charge, and Joplin S. Shylla, president of the party’s state women’s unit, were also present.
Sadho stressed on the difference in governance during the previous regimes of the Congress-led UPA and the present NDA government. “The central government has scrapped many central schemes, demonetisation has weakened the economy of the country, the implementation of GST has unnecessarily affected small time traders etc,” she said.
Sadho interacted with over 300 block functionaries and asked them to work hard for the Assembly polls.
