Road mishaps on the rise; one dies in PB

SHILLONG: There is no respite from road accidents in the city, the incidence of which has only risen over the past few months, police said.
Over the weekend, there have been two mishaps in the city, one leading to the death of a person.
In a hit-and-run case, a vehicle, the registration number of which is yet to be ascertained, mowed an unidentified person to death at Police Bazar around 1.10am on Sunday. The vehicle driver fled the scene. Necessary formalities are being observed with police conducting an inquiry into the incident.
On Saturday, a local taxi (bearing registration number, ML-05H-4407) knocked down a minor boy, Bishar Shabong at 7th Mile in Upper Shillong. The victim sustained injuries and was shifted to Ganesh Das Hospital here. The matter is under enquiry.
A bus ( ML-05D-4144) driven by Shanbor Roy Mawlong knocked down Keshar Ram at the MUDA parking lot in Lumdiengjri here around 9 am on October 10. Victim sustained injuries and was admitted to Woodland Hospital. The matter is under inquiry.
