SHILLONG: The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has started repairing the Umsning road following intervention of the High Court of Meghalaya.
NHAI official said the patch and potholes repair along the road is in full swing. He also added that the road is fully motorable and free of bumps.
The NHAI official also said the full overlay of the existing Umsning road will begin after Diwali.
“The court has given us 60 days, but we will try to finish it in 45 days,” the official said.
The High Court, while ordering to register a suo motu PIL on the conditions of highways in the state last week, had secured an assurance from NHAI that Umsning bypass would be open to the public before the end of January.
